Employee contracts virus, PTV4 goes off air for disinfection

MANILA, Philippines — State-owned People’s Television Network (PTV4) on Saturday announced that it will temporarily go off the air for 24 hours after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus.

In a statement released on its official Facebook page, the network will go off the air on Sunday, July 19, to allow the disinfection of its premises.

“The health and safety media front line workers remain our top priority,” the statement read.

PTV4 added that it will still be providing news through its social media channels.

PT4 returns on air on Monday, July 20.

As of Friday,  the Philippines has 63,001 COVID-19 cases, with 21,748 recoveries and 1,660 deaths.
