Public Weather Forecast Issued at 4:00 AM July 17, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms in the entire Visayas and the regions of Mimaropa and Caraga on Friday, the state weather bureau said.

The ITCZ is where winds coming from the northern and southern hemisphere converge, bringing clouds that cause rains in affected areas.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have fair weather, with chances of isolated rainshowers occurring mostly in the afternoon or evening, according to the 4 a.m. forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration.

“Sa Metro Manila at nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon, magiging maaliwalas pa rin ang panahon subalit asahan pa rin ang mga panandaliang pagbuhos ng pag-ulan lalo na sa dakong hapon at gabi na dulot pa rin ng localized thunderstorms,” Pagasa weather specialist Meno Mendoza said.

(In Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, there will be fair weather but we can expect brief rains especially in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms.)

“Sa nalalabing bahagi ng Mindanao, magiging maaliwalas pa rin ang panahon subalit posible pa rin ang isolated rainshowers pagdating ng hapon o gabi,” he also said.

(In the rest of Mindanao, there will be fair weather but isolated rainshowers may occur in the afternoon or evening.)

Fisherfolk may set sail in the country’s waters since there is no gale warning raised by the weather bureau.
