Youth rep files complaint on Red-tagging, threats

/ 05:24 AM July 17, 2020

Kabataan party list Rep. Sarah Elago and other leaders of progressive youth groups filed a complaint on Thursday against netizens who allegedly posted threatening and Red-tagging comments against them.

Elago submitted to the National Bureau of Investigation some 30 posts that, she said, were inciting hate and harm against various youth and student groups, with some of the online content posted on the social media accounts of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

“What’s gravely concerning is that these fake statements and false allegations inciting harm and hate on activists and dissenters are coming from police, military and government agencies using public funds,” Elago said, adding that she would submit the same pieces of evidence to the Commission on Human Rights. —Nikka G.
