No one hurt as fire guts Tagbilaran boarding house

TAGBILARAN CITY—Fire gutted a boarding house at the village of Cogon here at 4 p.m. on Tuesday (July 7).

No casualties were reported.

SFO2 Dennis Calunia, Tagbilaran City fire investigator, said it took 42 minutes to control the blaze.

Fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire and cost of damage.

Samantha Lopez, one of the boarders, said she was roused from sleep by the smell of smoke in her room.

“The fire started in the other room. It quickly spread to other rooms that were made of wood,” she said.

“My stuff, including important documents, are gone,” she added.
