LIGAO CITY—Authorities in the Bicol are putting up tents to quarantine individuals returning to the region from coronavirus-infected places.
One such tent was put up at the Josefina Belmonte Duran-Albay Provincial Hospital (JBDAPH) on Friday (July 3) for the returning Bicolanos.
It was put up at the Albay Provincial Drug Rehabilitation and Treatment Facility, which is an extension of the hospital.
The tents are part of the program “Unity in Isolation Emergency Quarantine Facility” sponsored by the private sector, according to Ronald Ramirez, senior regional operations manager of one of the private companies that are helping in the program, Comworks Inc.
According to Ramirez, each tent can house 16 individuals and has provisions for toilet and bath and ventilation.
He said the tent built at the JBDPAH extension was the second for returning Bicolanos.
More would be built at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital in Legazpi City “in the next few days,” he said.
Albay’s top doctor, Antonio Ludovice, said the tent donations were timely in addressing a rising number of COVID-19 cases in Bicol.
As of Friday afternoon, Bicol has 130 COVID-19 cases.
