Summer is late, says weather bureau

MANILA, Philippines—Summer is late this year, state weather forecasters said Tuesday.

Although March is winding down, The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the dry or hot season has not yet officially started.

Nathaniel Servando, Pagasa administrator, said the easterly winds from the Pacific Ocean, which signal the onset of the dry season, have yet to fully set in.

Servando said they expect the easterlies to dominate the country’s weather system in April.
