Decomposed body of soldier found in Pangasinan town

DAGUPAN CITY–A missing member of the Philippine Army Intelligence Unit was found dead in the mountainous area of Aguilar town in Pangasinan province on Sunday (June 28) morning, police said.

The body of Joemer Decano, 29, who belonged to the Army’s Alpha Company of the 24th Infantry Battalion based in Abra province, had already decomposed when it was discovered around 11:30 a.m.

Decano, a resident of the village of Biay in Sta. Cruz town, Zambales province, had been missing since June 25.

Police also recovered near the remains a black bag containing one Rock Island .45-caliber pistol loaded with 10 bullets, two extra magazines, a spent shell, a motorcycle, a black helmet and several identification cards.

Investigators have yet to establish the cause of his death.
