Police nab alleged ISIS-inspired terrorist in Marawi

MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested on Sunday an alleged member of a local terror group that has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) for murder in Marawi City, Lanao Del Sur.

Arrested in a police operation on Sunday around 10 a.m. in Barangay Raposan was Nabil Sandab Tomara aka Abu Khalifa. Police said he took part in the bloody Marawi siege in 2017.

He was turned over to Marawi City Police Station for documentation and booking procedures prior to the return of the warrant of arrest from the court of origin.

Authorities said that co-accused of Tomara, identified as Zacaria Benito aka Abdula is now the new leader of the ISIS-inspired local group operating in Lanao Del Sur.
