PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — Certain parts of Barangay (village) Santa Monica in this city would be placed under “localized lockdown” starting Monday (June 29), in a bid to contain the spread of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Village chief Ronaldo Sayang on Sunday said that the order was issued by the City Inter-Agency Task Force (CIATF), after six active COVID-19 positive cases were reported as “community transmission” in the barangay.

“The critical zone or enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) [will be] for the houses of our identified subjects. The area within the 500-meter radius from the household of our subject will be under modified ECQ (MECQ) or containment zone. Another 500 meters from the containment zone will be general community quarantine (GCQ) or buffer zone,” Sayang said.

Movements in and out of the identified zones would be regulated by the police officers and local officials. Quarantine passes will be issued among the residents and only essential travels such as emergencies and buying of essential items would be allowed.
