PH coronavirus cases now at 34,073 as DOH records 1,006 new patients
MANILA, Philippines — The number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines has breached the 34,000-mark as 1,006 new cases have been recorded by the government.
The Department of Health (DOH) said Friday that as of 4 p.m., 34,073 people in the country have been found positive for SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
Of the 1,006, DOH noted that 788 were tagged as “fresh” cases and 218 as “late” cases.
Fresh cases refer to those that were validated in the past three days while late cases refer to those that were recorded at least four days but have just been validated.
DOH also said it logged recoveries of 274 more patients, raising the tally of people who survived COVID-19 to 9,182.
Meanwhile, the country’s death toll is now at 1,224 including the 12 new fatalities reported by DOH.
