TAGBILARAN CITY — A 44-year-old patient who has moderate acute respiratory infection jumped from the second-floor window of a government hospital here at around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 25.
Dr. Mutya Kismet Tirol-Macuno, medical center chief II of the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH), said the patient managed to open the bathroom window in one of the isolation rooms of the COVID-19 Wing and jumped towards the ground floor.
The patient survived and did not sustain any major injury.
Macuno said the patient, who was initially anxious, was already stable and has been recuperating in the COVID-19 Wing under the multi-disciplinary care of the Behavioural Sciences Service, the COVID-19 Medical Team, and the Patient Safety Committee.
She described Thursday’s incident as an “isolated case.”
Macuno assured the public that the safety of GCGMH patients is always a priority.
GCGMH was designated as a regional hospital in Central Visayas on July 01, 1973 and as a Teaching/Training Hospital under the Regional Health Office in 1980.
