Cop shot dead in Bacoor, Cavite

SAN PEDRO CITY – A police officer was shot and killed shortly after his shift as a desk officer in Bacoor City Wednesday night, authorities said Thursday.

Police Staff Master Sergeant Walter Mercado left the police station and was driving his vehicle when he was attacked along Molino Boulevard in Barangay Bayanan at around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Mercado was taken to St. Dominic Medical Center where he expired.

Further investigation and pursuit operations against the gunman are ongoing.
