SANTIAGO CITY—In what could be another case that would dispute claims that the young are less vulnerable, a 13-year-old boy here has tested positive for SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, making him the city’s third coronavirus case, local health officials said.
The Department of Health (DOH) regional epidemiology surveillance unit in Cagayan Valley said the boy had travelled to Taytay town, Rizal province, a highly infected place.
The boy would be quarantined in the Southern Isabela Medical Center.
On Sunday (June 21), a 63-year-old woman from the village of Mabini here also tested positive for the virus.
Authorities are already hunting the people who have had contact with the two latest patients.
Seven other new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the entire region, including a 42-year-old woman in Santa Ana town, Cagayan province; a 38-year-old woman in Aurora town, Isabela province; two in Echague, also in Isabela; and one each in the towns of Angadanan, San Mariano and Enrile, also in Cagayan province.
