BOC intercepts P3.1M worth of kush

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-Naia) has confiscated some P3.1 million worth of kush or high-grade marijuana from a parcel at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City.
The subject parcel from California was misdeclared as chocolates, green tea, shirts, and black tea, according to information released by BOC on Monday.
However, Customs examiners found inside the parcel four packs of kush upon physical examination.
BOC said the package was consigned to a certain resident of Marikina City. The bureau did not name the concerned resident in its report.
“Continuous profiling of parcels and cargoes arriving via air is intensified in view of unveiled similar instances of concealment of dangerous drugs,” it added.
The confiscated illegal drugs were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on Monday for further profiling and case build-up for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act in relation to Section 119 (restricted importation and exportation) and Section 1113 (property subject to seizure and forfeiture) of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
