Cops still probing balikbayan shooting
POLICE are still investigating the shooting death of a balikbayan who was gunned down hours before Sunday’s Sinulog Grand Parade.
Officers of the Theft and Robbery Section said they were inviting some people who may given them a lead to the killers of Juan Carlos Villordon, 27, of barangay Lipata, Minglanilla town.
Lipata was shot dead early Sunday morning when he came to the aid of his girlfriend, who was being robbed by armed motorcycle-riding men outside a restobar in barangay Banilad, Cebu City..
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas will also help in the investigation.
CIDG-7 chief, Senior Supt. Jose Pante yesterday asked for autopsy results of Villordon to determine what gun was used in the killing.
Despite the shooting incident, Cebu City Police Chief Melvin Ramon Buenafe said that the Sinulog Grand Parade was generally peaceful.
Article continues after this advertisementBuenafe said police were monitoring areas along Juana Osmena Street and General Maxilom Avenue, where crowds of merrymakers frequented bars, restaurants and nightspots in the area.

Buenafe said members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Civil Disturbance Management, and reserved personnel were standing by for quick response to alarms. .
