Baguio has 2nd COVID-19 death
BAGUIO CITY –– The summer capital has recorded its second death from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) since March 19, Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong announced on Thursday.
The 54-year-old woman, who had a history of hypertension, was dead on arrival at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center.
The city’s first fatality died shortly before her COVID-19 infection was confirmed, and a day before Luzon was locked down to contain the virus.
Two more patients were confirmed to have COVID-19 on Thursday.
The first is a 28-year-old policeman, who lives here, but who is assigned in the Benguet capital town La Trinidad where five infections were recorded on June 17. Three of the La Trinidad cases are police officers.
The third patient is a 30-year-old woman who is employed in a food establishment.
Baguio has synchronized its quarantine program with La Trinidad and seven other Benguet towns to prevent transmissions across their borders.
Benguet has the highest number of new cases in the Cordillera Administrative Region, which recorded 101 infections at the start of the week.
