COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Despite the presence of a contingent from the Philippine Marines and the Philippine National Police securing the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao compound, an unidentified man was able to sneak in and toss a hand grenade in the space between two government offices Monday afternoon.

Superintendent Marlou Martinez, city deputy police chief, said the fragmentation grenade was lobbed at about 2 p.m. in the space between the offices of the Population Commission and the Department of Science and Technology.

Nobody was hurt in the blast.

Responding ARMM’s security officials found a safety lever of an M-67 fragmentation grenade.
