New labor department system to help repatriate OFWs

/ 05:18 AM June 12, 2020

The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) has activated a system that would keep track of all overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who want to return home amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said on Thursday.

To be tracked, OFWs must register online through oasis.owwa.gov.ph and fill out a form with appropriate data and information.

Bello said the tracking system served as a reliable database for OFWs displaced by the pandemic and would help government determine and provide the support they needed once they land at the country’s airports. —TINA G. SANTOS
