PDEA burns P164K worth of marijuana plants in Sagada

MANILA, Philippines – At least 820 full-grown marijuana plants in Sagada, Mountain Province were seized and burned by the operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Tuesday morning.

Reports from PDEA’s Mountain Province office said that the Sagada Municipal Police Station received a tip that a marijuana plantation was seen in Sitio Litting in Barangay Patay.

Operatives from PDEA and the Mountain Province Provincial Police Office validated the claims and found the plants, cultivated in two communal lands measuring around 50 square meters and 30 square meters.

PDEA said that the marijuana plants, estimated to be worth P164,000, were immediately uprooted and burned on site, with barangay officials of the said area serving as witnesses.

As of now, PDEA has not pinpointed any suspect or any person who may have had access to the parcels of land used to cultivate the illegal plant.
