DOTr to open 3 more bus routes on June 11

MANILA, Philippines — City buses can use three more routes in Metro Manila starting Thursday, June 11.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced on Wednesday that the following routes will be opened starting Thursday:

-Route 4 (North EDSA to Fairview)

– Route 6 (Quezon Ave. to EDSA Taft Ave.)

– Route 16 (Ayala Ave. to FTI)

After over two months of hard lockdown in the metro due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, transport officials are gradually allowing the resumption of public mass transport modes.

At present, 17 routes are open to city buses since the lifting of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) starting June 1.

These are the following:

– Portion of Route E (EDSA Carousel)

To augment MRT-3/partial operational

– Route 1 (Monumento-Balagtas)

-Route 2 (Monumento – PITX)

– Route 3 (Monumento-Valenzuela Gateway Complex)

– Route 5 (Quezon Avenue-Angat)

– Route 7 (Quezon Avenue-Montalban)

– Route 8 (Cubao-Montalban)

– Route 9 (Cubao-Antipolo)

To augment LRT-2

– Route 11 (Gilmore-Taytay)

– Route 13 (Buendia-BGC)

– Route 17 (Monumento-EDSA Taft)

To augment LRT-1

– Route 18 (PITX-NAIA Loop)

– Route 21 (Monumento-San Jose Del Monte)

– Route 24 (PITX-Alabang)

– Route 25 (BGC-Alabang)

– Route 28 (PITX-Dasmariñas)

– Route 29 (PITX – General Mariano Alvarez)

Under a general community quarantine (GCQ), point-to-point (P2P) buses, taxis, transport network vehicle services (TNVS), and public utility buses were allowed to ply the roads again on designated routes.

Operators and drivers of buses are required to follow strict health protocols such as wearing face masks and gloves, putting up non-permeable and transparent barriers in their vehicles, and enforcing a limited passenger seating capacity based on the guidelines of the government.
