An 18-year-old boy was surprised with a car and a college scholarship after he spent 10 hours picking up trash left by a protest in New York, United States.
Antonio Gwynn Jr. cleaned up Bailey Avenue in Buffalo City after watching violence break out there during a demonstration on June 1.
After seeing the teenager’s deed on TV, one Matt Block decided to reward his kindness, ABC-affiliate WKBW reported last Thursday, June 4. Block promised to give the teenager his 2004 red convertible Ford Mustang.
“I couldn’t come to grips with selling it and this was a good way for me to get rid of it and know someone that gets it is going to appreciate it,” he was quoted as saying.
When Gwynn received a photo of the vehicle, he pointed out that it was the same car his late mother first got him. Following their first talk, Block had finally handed over the car to Gwynn on June 7. He posted a photo of the two of them with the red convertible on his Facebook page on the same day.
Along with the new car, a certain Bob Briceland decided to cover Gywnn’s insurance for one year.
“I just felt compelled to help him out,” Briceland said. “We just need to get together our whole city and show people how there’s so many good people here.”
However, the gifts did not stop there. Gwynn also noted that he has been offered a full scholarship to Medaille College in Buffalo City.
Gywnn, his great aunt and his cousin could not help but cry upon learning of the gift. As per report, the teenager now plans on studying business and mechanics to help him start his own repair shop in the future.
“I always wanted to be someone to help everyone with their car problems,” he added. “This is a great opportunity I have right in front of me.”
Gwynn then decided to pay it all forward by helping his family such as his great aunt, according to the report. He has since paid for her rent and gave her a new phone. Ryan Arcadio/JB
