Man, 39, found dead in waters of Bohol town

TAGBILARAN CITY – A 39-year-old man was found dead in the waters off Tinangnan village in Tubigon town past 8 a.m. on Monday (June 8).

Three fishermen discovered the body of Ronnie Langgoy with a wound in the back, said SMsgt Darwin Andales, Tubigon police investigator.

“It was not a gunshot wound,” said Andales, correcting reports on social media.

Dr. Bernabe “Bob” Batausa, the municipal health officer, who examined the body of the victim, said Langgoy died due to “massive blood loss secondary to penetrating wound.”

On Sunday dawn (June 7) Andales said police and members of an anti-illegal fishing group called Bantay Dagat went on patrol in the waters of Tubigon to prevent people from sneaking into Bohol from areas infected by coronavirus.

When the patrol team received a report of illegal fishing at Tinangnan, the group immediately went to the area and found fishermen using fine-mesh nets called “palakaya.”

The fishermen abandoned their nets.

Andales said the patrol team recovered one pump boat which was reportedly owned by Langgoy.

On a Facebook post, Langgoy’s family said he has been missing since Sunday.
