MANILA, Philippines — Around 110,000 tablets and 11,000 laptops worth P994 million will be made available to Manila public school students and teachers to equip them for alternative learning as classes resume amid the coronavirus pandemic, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said on Friday.

Each tablet has a sim card with 10-gigabyte bandwidth per month and free 2 GB data allocation for YouTube. The gadgets will be distributed for free to Manila students. Teachers will get laptops with pocket Wi-Fi devices to help them conduct online classes. Manila is home to some 275,000 public school students.
