Duterte: Beware of medical equipment online scams
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has warned the public against falling prey to online scammers when purchasing essential medical equipment such as face masks amid the coronavirus crisis.
“Yang mga scam ngayon, mga mask mag-order kayo through online, susmaryosep. Do not go for that kind of shit,” Duterte said in a taped public address aired Friday morning.
The President advised consumers to purchase face masks and other medical equipment in Metro Manila or inspect the product first before handing out payment.
“Be careful about it, lokohan ‘to ngayon. The best is ‘give me the goods, I’ll pay you’. Or better still, ‘give me the goods, I will examine it if it is really the one that I ordered then i will pay you’. Huwag kayong bumili ng mga online, online lalo na magpadala ka ng pera,” Duterte said.
