Did You Know: Palacio del Gobernador damaged in 1863 quake

On June 3, 1863, a large earthquake in Manila badly damaged the Palacio del Gobernador in Intramuros, forcing Governor-General Rafael de Echague y Bermingham to temporarily move his residence to Malacañan Palace.

Except for some brief interruptions, however, Echague stayed there until the end of the Spanish regime in the Philippines in 1898.
