DOH: 63 new COVID-19 cases among health workers; total now 2,669

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 2,669 healthcare workers in the Philippines have contracted the novel coronavirus as of June 1, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.

The DOH tally—which was included in its daily situational report released Tuesday evening— is 63 cases higher than the agency’s last report on Monday.

Of the total cases, 1,438 or nearly 54 percent were able to recover.

Meanwhile, the death toll remained at 32.

The other 1,199 cases are deemed active or those patients currently undergoing treatment or quarantine. Of this number, 997 are mild, 201 are asymptomatic while only one is in severe condition.

The total of COVID-19 cases involving health workers accounts for 15 percent of the nationwide tally, slightly lower from the 16 to 17 percent recorded in past days.

To date, there are 18,997 coronavirus cases in the Philippines, of which 4,063 recovered while 966 died.
