Cops nab Lacson accuser Ador Mawanay in Pasig for estafa

MANILA, Philippines — Antonio Luis Marquez, alias Angelo “Ador” Mawanay, the man who earlier made news after linking Senator Panfilo Lacson to alleged criminal activities when he was then chief of the Philippine National Police, was arrested by police in Pasig City on Wednesday for estafa.

According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Marquez, 47, has an arrest warrant for estafa issued by Hon. Ma. Consejo Ignalaga, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court -4th Judicial Region in Branch 100 in Antipolo City dated June 27, 2017.

The court recommends a bail of P40,000 for his temporary liberty.

Members of CIDG-Anti Organized Crime Unit (AOCU), CID Regional Field Unit 10, and Rizal Provincial Field Unit CIDG served Marquez his arrest warrant along Chestnut Street at Greenwood Subdivision on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

After his arrest, Marquez was brought to the office of the CIDG-AOCU for detention.

To recall, Marquez who used the alias Angelo “Ador” Mawanay, was one of those who had accused Lacson of maintaining hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign bank accounts from his alleged involvement in criminal activities when he was then the head of the Philippine National Police.

Retired general Victor Corpus, a  former military intelligence chief, also linked Lacson to the foreign bank accounts, saying that he received the information from Marquez.

Corpus later apologized to Lacson in public television as the allegations against Lacson were all later proven baseless.
