Man posing as policeman arrested
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) arrested over the weekend a 33-year-old man who allegedly posed as a PNP-Imeg to avoid suspicion he was keeping loose firearms and explosives.
IMEG operatives nabbed Ruel Abella of Barangay Canlumampao, Toledo City, and recovered from him a .45-caliber pistol and a hand grenade.
A 16-year-old neighbor, who was with Abella at Barangay Lutopan, was also arrested when he attempted to flee.
He yielded two sachets of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth).
PNP-IMEG chief Brig. Gen. Ronald Oliver Lee said Abella was arrested following a complaint from personnel of the Cebu provincial police to whom the suspect allegedly introduced himself as a PNP-IMEG operative.
