2 patients in Olongapo City die waiting for COVID-19 test results

SAN ANTONIO, ZAMBALES – Two persons died in Olongapo City while waiting for their laboratory test results for the coronavirus, which turned out positive on Tuesday.

Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the patients were a 58-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man who had underlying health conditions when they died.

The woman suffered from breast cancer with liver and lung metastasis while the man had a cardiovascular problem, hypertension and congestive heart failure.

The two were admitted to a private hospital in Olongapo City on May 22 and were tested for the virus but died days later prior to the release of their test results.

Paulino said they had carried out contact tracing involving the two cases.

Last week, Paulino announced that the last active COVID-19 case in Olongapo City has recovered and was discharged from the hospital, making the COVID-19 cases in the city zero for the first time since March.

As of Tuesday, the city recorded 14 COVID-19 cases, including the two deaths. Twelve of them had recovered.

There are currently 42 suspected COVID-19 patients in Olongapo City, 27 are admitted to hospitals while 15 others are on home quarantine.
