TACLOBAN CITY – Two persons were wounded after three soldiers based in Samar allegedly discharged their firearms while in drinking binge Sunday night.
Initial reports reaching the Eastern Visayas regional police in Palo, Leyte stated that the three soldiers were having a drinking spree inside the house of one Rogelio Barondo in Barangay San Isidro, Paranas town which prompted village watchman Marcelino Nacar to call their attention at around 10 p.m.
The three soldiers, who reportedly belong to the 46th Infantry Battalion based in Calbiga town, also in Samar, responded by firing their service firearms on the ground which ricocheted and hit Nacar on the left hand.
Teodorico Cinco, a farmer who happened to be standing nearby, was also hit on his right armpit, left leg and stomach.
The two victims were brought to the Samar Provincial Hospital in Catbalogan City while the three soldiers fled.
The police report identified one of three soldiers as Corporal Jover Mabaga.
Members of the Paranas police were still conducting a follow up operation to arrest the three soldiers.
