LUCENA CITY — At least two more “probable” coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients in Quezon have died, bringing the total fatalities among possible virus carriers in the province to 15, health authorities reported Monday (May 25).
In its 8 a.m. bulletin, Quezon provincial information office (QPIO), citing the latest record from the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), disclosed the deaths of two more patients classified as “probable.” The report did not provide other details on the fatalities which was only 13 on Sunday.
An individual is classified as “probable” COVID-19 case if his/her test results are inconclusive, and he/she has been tested in an unofficial laboratory that does the confirmatory testing.
On Monday, Quezon province recorded 85 “confirmed” COVID-19 cases, with 66 recoveries and eight deaths. The province has only 11 remaining active virus carriers, all confined in a medical facility.
Out of 41 localities in the province, only 24 have zero confirmed COVID-19 cases based on the IPHO record.
Lucena City, the capital of the province, has recorded a total of 31 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic but 29 of them have recovered.
However, IPHO records covering the period from April 14 to May 24 shows that there are 56 suspected novel coronavirus carriers confined in different hospitals in Quezon, while 52 others on home quarantine.
Authorities gave no information on the locations of the listed suspected virus carriers.
A total of 1,162 individuals are classified as “suspected” carriers but 28 of them have died without any information on whether or not they were tested.
At least 1,026 of the suspected carriers were already out of hospitals or finished home quarantine.
