Stranded people can ask police to help them get home

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police is setting up help desks at its stations nationwide to help stranded people return to their hometowns.

Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, head of the COVID Shield task force, said the help desks would help people get the proper travel authority after they present barangay or city certifications that they were free of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“Generally, the LGU destination cannot deny the entry of the [stranded people] but for courtesy and preparation, coordination must be done,” he said.
