MANILA, Philippines — Police officers arrested a village watchman from Taguig City and seized over P1 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation in Quezon City.
Quezon City Police District Director (QCPD) Police Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo on Wednesday identified the suspect as Teng Macalbog, 47, a resident of Barangay Maharlika, Taguig City.
Montejo said they discovered Macalbog’s drug peddling activities after the QCPD Drug Enforcement (DEU) Unit received a tip from a confidential informant.
The QCPD DEU led by Major. Timothy Aniway Jr. immediately launched a buy-bust operation against the barangay official along Katipunan Avenue near C.P. Garcia Avenue in Barangay UP Campus on Tuesday night.
An undercover police officer made the arrest after Macalbog handed him shabu (crystal meth) with a street value of P300,000.
Also seized in the bust were 150 grams of shabu with a street value of P1,020,000; a mobile phone, a motorcycle, and the marked cash used in the bust. Police estimate the street value of the seized shabu at P1,020,000 based on the computation of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) 0f a gram of shabu selling at P6,800.
Macalbog is now detained in QCPD as complaints for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against him.
