BAGUIO CITY — Six village roads in Abra and Ifugao were damaged by small erosions and collapsed stone masonry due to Typhoon Ambo last week, according to the Office of Civil Defense in the Cordillera.

It said the damages to the roads in Barangays (villages) Bonglo, Lenneng and Subagan in the Abra town of Baay Licuan; Barangay Duldulao in Malibcong town, also in Abra; and Barangays Kiangan and Gunhang in Ifugao’s Tinoc town cost P7.5 million as established by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

The DPWH will install early warning devices at these roads should more weather disturbances occur, said OCD Cordillera director Albert Mogol, following an assessment meeting on Mar. 19.

About 143 people (37 families) from the mining town of Itogon in Benguet, and Lamut town in Ifugao, were preemptively evacuated but have since returned home. Vincent Cabreza INQ
