MANILA, Philippines — A member of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) has tested positive for the novel coronavirus but has since recovered from the highly contagious viral illness.

The PSG, however, reassured that President Rodrigo Duterte remains safe from COVID-19 as the affected personnel had no direct interaction with the President.

“A PSG [officer] tested positive for COVID-19 but has long recovered. The President has no exposure with him at all since he is not detailed as a close-in security,” the PSG said in a statement.
