MANILA, Philippines — Police officers have so far arrested 43 violators of quarantine protocols in two villages in Caloocan that were placed under total lockdown, the city police chief said Tuesday.

Col. Dario Menor said in a text message that as of Monday night, 20 residents of Barangay 156 in Caloocan City were arrested by members of Caloocan police-community precinct-7 for violating lockdown rules.

Meanwhile, 23 residents were apprehended in Barangay 12 for violation of city ordinances, such as wearing of face mask and following curfew hours, and other quarantine protocols.

To recall, Barangay 156 in District 1 was under total lockdown starting May 13 until May 15 after the city health department recorded a surge of coronavirus disease cases in the village.

Barangay 156’s youth council then announced that the lockdown was extended until May 20 to give way for  COVID-19 testing of residents in the area.

“Sa datos mayroon pang 50% mula sa kabuuang 146 na nagpa swab test sa ating Brgy na wala pang resulta. Kung magiging resonable/mababa o tuluyan nang walang makukumpirmang positibo sa Covid19 sa ating Brgy ay maaaring mapaikli o mabawi na ang LOCKDOWN sa ating Brgy,” read the post last Thursday, May 14.

(50 percent of the 146 residents who underwent swab tests have no results. If the positive cases were decreased, the lockdown might be shortened.)

Meanwhile, the local government also placed Barangay 12, Zone 1, District 2 of Caloocan under extreme enhanced community quarantine or total lockdown from May 17, Saturday at 8 p.m. until May 23, Saturday at 11:59 p.m.
