Color-coding for Pasay’s trikes, pedicabs

/ 04:03 AM May 19, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — As 5,800 tricycles and pedicabs resumed their routes in Pasay City on Monday, Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said they would enforce a color-coding scheme “to give equal opportunities for all to operate while at the same time limit the number of vehicles plying the streets per day.”

According to Jun Burgos, chief of the city’s public information office, tricycles and pedicabs with pink stickers will be allowed to ply their routes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while those with green stickers can do the same on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Only those who belong to any of the city’s recognized transport groups for pedicab or tricycle drivers and operators were allowed back on the streets although all drivers were told to maintain social distancing and follow other quarantine protocols to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Only one passenger will be allowed per vehicle with no back riders. There should be a barrier between the driver and rider with both wearing face masks. The vehicle should also be regularly disinfected.
