MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday announced an additional 208 confirmed new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, bringing the total number of coronavirus infections in the country to 12,513.
Out of the 208 new cases, 174 were recorded in Metro Manila, while Central Visayas reported one new case. Thirty-three new cases were reported in other areas.
The DOH reported seven new deaths, which brings the total to 824 overall. There were also 74 new recoveries, raising the number of recovered patients at 2,635.
The announcement comes a day after some areas in Luzon, including Metro Manila, transitioned to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), which is more relaxed compared to the previously enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
Most parts of the country are under general community quarantine (GCQ), the quarantine category for areas with the lowest risk. Only Cebu and Mandaue City remain under ECQ.
