The closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) did not provide any clues as to who fetched the woman whose body was found inside a suitcase at the airport parking lot a day after she arrived from Bahrain.
“Nothing that could help us was seen on the CCTV,” said Chief Insp. Joey Goforth, Pasay Police chief investigator, when asked how the CCTV footage could add to whatever information they had that would be valuable to their investigation.
Goforth accompanied Nidzmar Bahjin, father of the victim, 23-year-old Nidz Ailyn Bahjin, to the airport to view the CCTV footage hoping to find clues particularly in determining who may have fetched or accompanied the victim from the airport when she arrived from Bahrain Tuesday afternoon.
Bajhin was found inside a suitcase at Car Park 1 of Naia Terminal 2 around 7:50 a.m. the following day.
The airport CCTV footage showed Bahjin in the area past the immigration counters while crossing the pedestrian lane from the arrival lobby.
The footage also showed that when she got to the end of the lane, a man, whom airport police said could be a “solicitor,” or one who offers hotel accommodations to arriving passengers, approached Bahjin.
“But based on her actuations as seen on the footage, the victim apparently refused the man as she pulled her cart away from him,” said Brig. Gen. Salvador Peñaflor, manager of the airport’s intelligence and investigation and pass control department.
“The footage did not show if there was somebody who fetched her or if she left the airport alone. But it tells us that the victim was alive when she got in and when she left the airport, meaning she was not killed here,” he added.
The victim’s father, however, said he was not fully convinced that the woman he saw on the CCTV was his daughter because the image shown on the footage was blurred.
But he said his daughter’s recruiter earlier advised him not to fetch the victim at the airport. Nidzmar also said his daughter was not able to finish her contract abroad.
“I really don’t know why would anybody kill her,” he said, when asked what could be the possible motive for killing his daughter.
