MANILA, Philippines — Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro has allowed tricycles and pedicabs to resume their operations, the local government’s public information office announced Saturday on its official Facebook page.
Teodoro signed Executive Order 21, Series of 2020, which lets tricycles and pedicabs operate under the modified enhanced community quarantine amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Putting safety at the forefront, the local government unit will conduct rapid testing of the drivers for free.
“Recognizing the need of our tricycle and pedicab drivers to get back to work, their transport operation shall be allowed to resume beginning tomorrow,” wrote Marikina PIO in the Facebook post.
Just a sole passenger, however, is allowed to travel inside the pedicab or tricycle and that “the use of face masks, terminal markers on physical distancing, and regular disinfection and sanitation” would have to be observed.
