Senate offices still on skeleton workforce amid modified ECQ

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate will continue to implement the prevailing skeleton workforce schedule even amid the modified enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila.

According to a memo from Senate Secretary Atty. Myra Marie D. Villarica, offices within the Senate will continue with the skeleton workforce and work from home arrangements from May 18, two days after the implementation of the modified ECQ.

“Based on the criteria set forth by the resolution and relevant guidelines prescribed by competent government authorities under the MECQ, government offices are enjoined to follow a skeleton workforce schedule onsite and work from home arrangements,” wrote Villarica.

“Furthermore, public transportation services will still not be available to the riding public. However, other modes of non-motorized transportation are encouraged.”

Government offices remained operational but with limited personnel during the quarantine period due to COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that civil operations continue.

Villarica also said the heads of the respective offices would continue to determine and assess the skeleton workforce requirements and other alternative work arrangements as prescribed by Memorandum Circular No. 10, s. 2020 of the Civil Service Commission.

“Employees who work from home are reminded to adhere faithfully to assignments and deadlines given to them as far as practicable, and to make themselves available as needed,” wrote Villarica.
