TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija –– A Korean businessman and eight other residents were arrested on Wednesday (May 13) at a checkpoint in Barangay Bagong Silang for violating rules on social distancing during the lockdown.
They were packed together in a white Toyota Grandia van and failed to show travel passes, according to Lt. Col. Alexie Desamito, Talavera police chief.
Detained were Joseph Kim, 55, who is a Santiago City resident; sisters Rosemarie Yap, 53, and Felt, 55, both of Sto. Tomas town in Pampanga; Christopher Francisco, 43, of Bacolor town, also in Pampanga; Butch Dayrit, 55, of Pampanga’s Mabalacat City; King George Apiado, 42, Angeles City in Pampanga; brothers Wilfredo Agdeppa, 37, and Oliver, 43, both from Nueva Ecija; and Aladdin Abian, 44, of Puerto Princesa City in Palawan.
In Gen. Mamerto Natividad town, police jailed two men for breaking the liquor ban and the curfew at Barangay Mataas na Kahoy.
Bartolome Magtalas, 39, and Emil John Nario, 37, were caught transporting several boxes of liquor in a vehicle on Monday (May 11), said Police Captain Ronnie Caagbay, town police chief.
