Cavite to be placed under GCQ on May 16 – Governor Remulla

/ 09:19 AM May 12, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — The province of Cavite will be placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) beginning May 16, 2020, Governor Jonvic Remulla announced on Tuesday.

“Nilahad na kahapon ng Malacañang na ang lalawigan ng Cavite ay isalalagay na sa GCQ umpisa ng May 16 (Malacañang announced yesterday that the province of Cavite will be placed under GCQ starting May 16),” he said in a Facebook post.

Remulla said the resumption of economic activities in the province will be gradual. He said limited stores in malls will be allowed to open as the nation continues to combat the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Takeout services for restaurants will also be allowed and the construction industry will be reopened, said the governor.

Under GCQ, residents are still required to wear face masks in public areas, according to the governor.

Those without quarantine passes are still not allowed to go outside except for those who are working),” he added.

Curfew will still be imposed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., except for those with valid work permits. Bars are still not allowed to reopen.

Regarding transportation, Remulla advised the public to wait for further announcements from other concerned government agencies.

He added that he will have to coordinate with other authorities in the nearby Metro Manila and Laguna on measures for transportation of people and goods in and out of Cavite.

Remulla also announced that the provincial government of Cavite will conduct targeted COVID-19 tests starting on Monday.

Sunod ang relief workers,” he said.

(The first to be tested according to the schedule are doctors and nurses who are COVID-19 frontliners. Next will be the PNP and relief workers.)

He said schedules for others to be tested next will be released soon.

Remulla advised his constituents to wait for further actions of the government before complaining about community quarantine protocols.

“Huwag muna magalak. Even if our situation improved, the second wave of COVID will surely come. Let us still observe social distancing and good hygiene practices),” he said.
