Yazaki-Torres chief Feliciano Torres; 80

MANILA, Philippines — Feliciano Torres, president of Calamba, Laguna-based auto parts manufacturer and leading wiring harness exporter Yazaki-Torres Manufacturer Inc., died on May 9 due to multiple organ failure leading to cardiac arrest.

Torres, better known as “Thotie,” died in San Francisco, California, at 9:40 a.m. He was 80.

Torres had pushed to revive the ailing domestic auto manufacturing sector, having led industry groups such as the Motor Vehicle Parts Manufacturers Association of the Philippines (now known as the Philippine Parts Maker Association), as well as the Philippine Automotive Competitiveness Council Inc.

He recently went into the restaurant business through ramen shops King Men in Pasay City and Shiroi Daichi in Taguig City.
