COVID-19 infects 3 hospital workers in Quezon

LUCENA CITY –– At least three hospital workers have contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Quezon province.

On Wednesday, the local government of Lopez town disclosed on its Facebook page that the two latest confirmed COVID-19 patients were both health workers.

“Confirmed Case #2” is a 36-year-old staff member of the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City assigned to handle the hospital’s COVID-19 patients.

“Confirmed Case #3” is a 28-year-old staff member of a local hospital, the local government reported.

Both are asymptomatic and in stable conditions.

One of the two latest cases in Lucena, though not a health worker by profession, is employed as a service worker in one of the local private hospitals in the city, according to Mayor Roderick Alcala.

The two health workers bring the number of infected medical and health persons in the province to 33.

A report released at 8 a.m. Wednesday by the Quezon provincial information office revealed that the province now has 72 patients with COVID-19.
