MANILA, Philippines — Public school teachers have to report for work, either physically or virtually, starting June 1, to undergo training on alternative learning options, the Department of Education (DepEd) said Tuesday.
“Ang ating mga teachers ay June 1 pa lang to 30 kasi enrolment period na ito, mag-render na sila ng service whether physically or virtually,” DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones said in a televised briefing.
(Starting June 1 until June 30, since this is already the enrolment period, teachers will have to render their services physically or virtually.)
“They will undergo capacity building sa mga bagong lessons. Meron tayong mga bagong mga platform more than 5 million na ngayon ang nag susubscribe, itong tinatawag na DepEd commons at saka may mga bago tayong programa para sa mga bata so that they can learn well in school with the guidance of their parents,” Briones further said.
(They will undergo capacity building on new lessons. We have a new platform with more than 5 million subscribers, which is called DepEd commons. We also have new programs for the children so they can earn well in school with the guidance of their parents.)
Due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the agency launched DepEd Commons which is an online education delivery platform designed as an alternative mode for teaching-learning process.
Classes, physically or virtually, are set to resume on August 24 and targeted to end on April 30, 2021.
