MANILA, Philippines — A survivor from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) from General Santos City has tested positive again for coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2.

The local government unit (LGU) of General Santos City said that the patient was retested for the coronavirus last April 28 and it yielded a positive result.

Citing the Department of Health (DOH) report, the LGU said there is a possibility that the positive result was “due to the remnants of the dead virus.”

“There is still a possibility that the patient is not infectious,” it said on Monday.

The LGU assured that the patient is on strict home quarantine. He underwent a fourth swab test and is still waiting for the results.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire on Tuesday said there is no recorded case of COVID-19 reinfection in the country yet. She added that remnants of the virus “might not be infectious.”
