MANILA, Philippines — Barangay Addition Hills in Mandaluyong City will be placed under week-long “total lockdown” starting Thursday, May 7, 2020 due to the high number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.
“Matapos nating makausap si Kapitan Carlito Cernal at kanyang Konseho at sa rekomendasyon ng ating CESU (City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit) ay inaprubahan ko po na ISAILALIM ang BARANGAY ADDITION HILLS sa TOTAL LOCKDOWN sa loob ng isang linggo mula sa Mayo 7, 2020,” Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
(After meeting with Barangay Captain Carlito Cernal, the barangay council and the CESU, I approved the move to place Barangay Addition Hills under total lockdown for one week starting May 7,2020.)
Abalos said the city government will conduct rapid testing for 3,000 residents during the lockdown.
“Habang nasa ilalim ng lockdown ang Barangay Addition Hills, magsasagawa po tayo ng random rapid testing sa 3,000 residente sa pamamahala ng ating CESU,” she said.
(While Barangay Addition Hills is under lockdown, we will test 3,000 residents though CESU.)
Abalos also assured residents that they will deliver food packs for each household starting Tuesday, May 5.
Abalos added that they will soon issue an executive order for the guidelines of the lockdown in Barangay Addition Hills.
As of May 4, Monday night, Mandaluyong City has 418 confirmed COVID-19 cases including 36 deaths and 82 recoveries.
Barangay Addition Hills has the most number of COVID-19 cases with 57 followed by Barangay Highway Hills with 45.
