319 healthcare workers recover from COVID-19; 1,772 infected

MANILA, Philippines — The number of healthcare workers in the country infected with the novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2 has reached 1,772, with 319 recovering from the coronavirus disease 2019.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire on Monday said the number of coronavirus-infected healthcare professionals continues to decline in the past few days.

Of the total, 1,419 are considered active cases; 452 of which experience no symptoms of the disease, 958 have mild symptoms, while nine are severe cases, she said.

“Nitong mga nakaraang araw ay paunti na nang paunti ang nakikita nating mga healthcare workers na nagpopositibo (sa coronavirus),” she said in an online press conference.

(These past few days, the number of healthcare workers being infected is declining.)

So far, 34 healthcare professionals were recorded to have succumbed to COVID-19.

The 1,772 coronavirus-infected healthcare workers are among the 9,485 persons in the country who have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. A total of 1,315 patients recovered while 623 died.
