MANILA, Philippines — A hospital in Marikina City on Monday received three emergency quarantine facilities (EQF) with 120 beds built by members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and designed by the WTA Architecture+Design Studio.

The facilities, turned over to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center, were designed to treat and isolate COVID-19 patients with mild to no symptoms and ease the burden on hospitals being overwhelmed by the number of COVID-19 patient admissions.

The EQFs for Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center were funded by the Marikina local government unit and partly by United Architects of the Philippines-Manila Chapter. It was constructed by the AFP’s Office of The Chief Engineer led by Maj. Gen. William Ilagan and volunteers Danny Ko and Leah Longalong, the AFP said in a statement.
